Dr. Katherine Unes

Dr. Unes is originally from Peoria, Illinois, where much of her large extended family still lives. After graduating from high school, she attended the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign, where she became involved with Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity, the Illinois Rowing team, and gave campus tours. She earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Integrative Biology with minors in Chemistry and Human Nutrition. Katie graduated from Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine with honors in 2018.

After dental school, Dr. Unes attended a residency at the University of Missouri at Kansas City before moving to Georgia.

She currently resides in Statesboro with her husband, Joe, and their adopted dogs, Pickle and Rosa. In her free time, she and her husband love spending time with family, including their six nieces and nephews, cooking, traveling, and are avid readers.

Dr. Unes’ favorite aspect of dentistry is helping to restore someone’s confidence in their smile! She frequently takes continuing education courses to further her skill, and she is especially passionate about digital dentistry and smile design. She will receive a Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry in 2023.
